or: A cry to the file-sharing Community
I'd like to take a little bit of time to rant about file 'sharing', or lack there of.
I'm not promoting the use of programs such as morpheus, winmx, or kazaa for the downloading of illegal materials, but rather looking in the direction of those materials which are legal to freely distribute.
Anyway, as any child that has progressed past kindergarten should be aware, 'sharing' implies two or more people exchanging goods on a fair, and even grounds. ie, no one person does all the receiving, each person gives a little to get a little. I've become increasingly annoyed at all the BS with people on the aforementioned programs. For crying out loud, don't cancel the people in your upload list! where do you think the files your getting are coming from? Your in somebodies upload list somewhere! If you don't like having a lot of people leeching files off of you, put a reasonable limit on how many people can be downloading from you at a time, like 5, not 1, 1 is BS. If your on a high speed connection, don't limit the upload speed to 2kb/s, make it more like 15kb/s, your not going to notice any change in performance.
What i'm really trying to say here is have a little respect, if people don't allow others to upload files from them, then there can't be anybody downloading. If your one of these people, have some heart, and brains for that matter, and start helping the community, not raping it.
