Bandwidth Limit? Tripod Tries To Suck $4.95 (US) a Month From My Starving Student Hands
Alright, this is kind of fun. I posted a link to the humour section of this page in 'The Metro', over at The Nation Of Cool. Now I don't normally get a whole lot of hits, so all was well in the land of ignorance.
Apparently Tripod only lets me dole out 5.7mb of bandwidth in an hour, and if the page exceeds that amount they take it down for two hours. This is all in an effort to get me to sign up for 'Tripod Plus', and wring my wallet for $4.95 US a month (thats like 9 or 10 bucks Canadian).
Welp, I suppose if your going to break the bandwidth rules, break 'em big. At 1am Eastern Time last night (or this morning I guess) the page used 21.7 mb of bandwidth. Had I signed up for Tripod Plus, the page would have still been taken down for 2 hours. The latest tripod crackdown was for 5pm, when the page used something like 8.7mb.
Maybe I'll move the files over to my topcities account, depending on what kind of bandwidth whores they are.
Peace Out So If vinyl is pleather, and pleather is fake leather, what's fake pleather?

Zwan Hippie Tree Huggers or Serious Rock Group?
I picked up the new zwan CD from HMV yesterday. The comparisons to the Smashing Pumpkins are inevitable, and the inevitable is unavoidable, so here’s my take:
The Smashing Pumpkins had issues, and they sang about them, see Bullet with Butterfly Wings.
Zwan is like a support group for the aftermath of the Smashing Pumpkins. The issues within the group have switched from 'Society hates me, and I want to spite it' to 'I've hurt society and want to make up for it'. Think happy thoughts, everybody has their say; everybody's point is valid, sunshine lollipops and rainbows.
There is also a lot of what I'm going to call the 'Ozzy' syndrome apparent. Simply put, the Ozzy syndrome is the past overuse of 'mind enhancing substances' which in turn affects ones ability to think for themselves.
While the music itself harkens back to the pumpkins at points, it’s not the pumpkins, nor is it intended to be.
The buy was justified however with tracks like 'Lyric', 'Honestly', and 'Baby Let's Rock'. Lyric will probably be the next single; it just has a single feel to it.
So is zwan a band to watch? I doubt it :^( While some of the tracks from 'Mary Star of the Sea' are good, nothing is excellent, nothing makes you want to say 'wow, that’s amazing'. 'Honestly' comes close, but not quite.
Peace Out And then I snapped at the Postal Worker
