So I think i've figured out whats wrong with the world, the thing that the present lacks over the past.
Face value. Everything now is taken at face value, you get what you see, you give what you have to, and only when you have to. Theres much more to everything then there appears to be, but we're too lazy to look into it. In the past ones boss might give a raise to an employee in order to help him/her finance their family. Not anymore, work and home are seperate things, not to be intermingled. Forget whats good for your family, whats good for the company?
We no longer invest in what makes us happy, we invest in what makes us money, under the false assumption that money means happy. The wealth of a person is measured in their material possesions, rather then the good things they have done or are capable of doing. We're stuck in that line of thinking, like a bad habit.
The world is afraid of regression, we always need to push forward, advance what we are physically capable of doing. We define ourselves based on our limitations, if our limitations are not decreasing, then we as people are failing. Civilization is unable to control itself. While we may only need two cups of water to fill our glass, we'll continue to pour until there is nothing left to pour.
Essentially what it call comes down to is the following: Nobody Cares. And so long as nobody cares, nothing will happen to save us. So long as nobody cares, the world will remain a large, intimidating place where the average person has little chance of any personal success or happiness. Any person faced with this reality would more then likely react the same, they'd stop caring.
