Victoria Day Two Crumpets With My Tea Please
Victoria Day. A Canadian Holiday of Monarchalithic Proportions. Today we as Canadians celebrate the birthday of our queen, on the day of the birth of a woman born more then a hundred years before her.
The good things that the monarchy does for us are countless. In that they can't be counted, because they don't exist. A figure head at best, whens the last time the queen did anything good for you? Entertainment through scandals doesn't count.
The Monarchy is a pointless entity that clings to history and tradition. The world around it has changed, while the poppy-cock attitude within the walls of buckingham palace have stayed the same for centuries.
Quit while your ahead. The Monarchy should withdraw from any political and public ties that it has, and go down being remembered for the good things its done, not the idiotic things its sure to do in the future.
The monarchy's political power is only symbolic as it stands anyway. The Govenor General simply has to sign a bill to make it law. He could, in theory, choose not to sign it; but thats the same as saying that all Canadian provinces, could, in theory, all agree to change the constitution; its not going to happen.
Chop out the queen, and theres no need for the Govenor General. No Govenor General, no need to pay a govenor general, his attendants, housing, transportation, meals, etc, etc, etc. The GG is the equivalent to the queen on Canadian soil. I imagine he/she gets the best of everything, and the last time I check, the best is an expensive thing.
The Monarchy is A useless keepsake of times gone by, time to clean out the closet, and organize the photos.
Peace Out Common Sense is Hard to Find
