Spare Me The BS Johnny is a talented Script Writer, who volunteers on the weekend
Right now I should be filling out my Career Planning workbook pages 3-5. Its a thing about applied skills, experience i've gained over the years, and other such things of fancy and excitement.
It dawned on me as I was reading through the assignment that 'Career Planning' would probably be found in a thesaurus right next to the likes of 'Guidance'. Oh how I despise guidance, and those who try to give it to me (in the high school guidance sort of fashion).
Guidance, or 'Career Planning' is simply a teacher at the front of the class, trying to lead me towards conclusions about life in a round-a-bout, "i'm smarter then you" sort of a way. If I can't figure out who I am on my own, and instead need someone else to show me, then am I truly who I think I am? not a chance. The values and ethics that are taught in guidance sorts of classes should be left to students to discover on their own. Give me an ounce of credit, and I'll give you an ounce of respect.
Trust that I'm capable, don't assume that I'm not.
Peace Out Who decides they want to be a guidance counciller anyway?
