Screw the UN, what do they know? I want to know what Bono said, he's where its at. This is not to say that Bono is not a very intelligent man. Tonight the CBC was airing a story on the HIV/Aids epidemic, they mentioned some statistics that the UN had released, then referenced Bono saying that he had said something similar earlier, as if to back up and justify what the UN had said. Good to know that Bono comes first.
Some of the rampant problems in the world are being blamed on the fact that we take famous peoples opinions over the opinions of people who actually know what they're talking about. I don't think this is the case at all. There is no real problem amoungst regular people, the problem is the media. Blow things out of proportion, pull in the ratings, sweep less popular, entertaining things under the carpet, and pretend they don't exist.
You've been taught to make a long, drawn out argument about that which you beleive to be right. I'm not going to do that here, because anything else I would right would be an exageration to keep your attention, and I would become part of the problem, so short story short, the media creates and lives its own problems.
